Galatasaray Sports Club

Galatasaray sports clubGalatasaray Sports Club, known as GS, was founded in 1905 by the students of Galatasaray Lycée in Beyoglu district of Istanbul. It started as a football (soccer) club but then other sports branches were added, such as basketball, handball, swimming, athletics, etc. Their colors are yellow and red, their nickname is "lions".

Galatasaray won the Turkish Super League for 24 times, being 2023 - 2024 season as the last one. They also won the UEFA Cup and Super Cup in 2000, being the only Turkish team so far winning these international cups.

Today, its president is Mr. Dursun Ozbek (former president was Mr. Burak Elmas). Their new stadium, named after the founder of the club, Ali Sami Yen, is located in Seyrantepe neighbourhood and is known as Nef Stadium with a capacity of 52,650 people.
